Copper

So the macro lens has arrived…

I rented a Nikkor 50mm 2.8 MC Z lens from Borrow Lenses about a month or so ago and really enjoyed it. I’ve always liked finding things and getting up close to the point where you see something that you see every day from a different perspective. Sometimes that’s a good thing in photos – and life in general.

I’d been keeping an eye out for this lens to show up used somewhere, so I found it on KEH one day and snagged it! It’s not my first macro lens – I had one for my old Nikon DSLR, but this is my first Z lens that’s a prime and also a macro. Yay!

So now I’m taking weird pictures of things around the house. For some reason I liked this one. It’s literally a Scotch Brite copper coated cleaning pad. I think we used these for cleaning stuff that we use for brewing beer. When you get up close to it, the pad doesn’t look like a cleaning pad. I like the way the light reflected and the narrow plane of focus blurred out certain parts of the image.

More macros to come I’m sure…
