2024 Solar Eclipse
The day started out like any other, but it was a once in a lifetime kind of day. At about 2pm in the Akron, OH area, the solar eclipse began. At first, it was barely noticeable with eclipse glasses. But quickly we got to see more and more of the moon covering the sun. Closer…

Akron Sakura Festival
This weekend we went to the Akron Sakura Festival. This was the first time we had heard of the downtown festival, and when we heard the cherry trees were in bloom we decided we had to check it out. It was great that the festival was held right along the Towpath in downtown Akron so…

Stacked Stones
Stacked stones can have many different meanings. In some cases they are used as navigational aids. Other times they mark the high point of a mountain or the location of a resource like water. I’ve read that they can bring a sense of peace or good luck. Whatever these stones mean, I thought they were…

Lana’i Lookout
On a trip around the island of O’ahu, we stopped at Lana’i Lookout. We heard that the waves were getting a little crazy on the windward side of the island, and what we saw didn’t disappoint. When we got out of the car we almost blew away the wind was so strong. Many people were…

End of Season
Yesterday, Christmas Day, we decided to go for a photo walk around nearby downtown Cuyahoga Falls. There were lots of decorations, and it was a beautiful December day with sunshine and temps in the low 60s. I found a few things to take photos of, but this one stuck out. There were a bunch of Christmas ornaments…

Double Sunstars
This is another shot from the morning sunrise and morning light chase around town. Over by Lake Anna, I saw one of the few remaining trees that had a ton of color. I saw this blazing red tree from across the lake and had to get it in some photos. First, I took some pictures…

Goose
I got up quite early the other morning to catch the sunrise and chase the light around town. I started my morning just before dawn at a local park watching the sunrise over Turkeyfoot Lake. It was quite the sunrise, and although the air had a good chill to it, the sky was brilliant. Afterwards,…

Fire Monster
Tonight we went to the Franklin Botanical Garden for their Pumpkins Aglow event. We weren’t quite sure what to expect, but we saw lots of pumpkins which gave me all kinds of ideas for Halloween next year. Thankfully, the picture above did not. We had been wanting hot cider all weekend, and we found it…

Finger Lakes Birds
We took a walk at Lakefront Park in Geneva, NY right near the Finger Lakes Welcome Center. We needed to get some walking in after having tasted so many wines. I don’t think we necessarily walked it off, but one can try. There were a ton of sea gulls at the park. I took some…

Grapes
What trip to the Finger Lakes would be complete without a photo of some grapes. This was taken (ironically) at Abandon Brewery where I don’t think they were using grapes. But they’re everywhere. I liked the contrast between the ripe (Concord I think) grapes, and the foliage getting its Fall colors. Nikon Z50, f6.3, 1/160,…
