Outrigger

One of the things I was to photograph while in Hawai’i was an outrigger, and I think this was the hardest for me for some reason. I saw the perfect photo opportunity as I was driving – it was an outrigger in a small bay on the windward side of O’ahu with still waters – but there was nowhere to pull over and stop.

The other photo I took of an outrigger was on Waikiki Beach, but the photo was too busy. Also, someone leaned their behind into the photo and that wasn’t what I was after.

The photo above was taken as we were exploring Waikiki one night and happened upon this wooden outrigger at a hotel. (maybe it was The Outrigger Hotel…). It was a beautiful and had this lei draped over it, but when I tried to photograph the whole thing it got lost in the background. So, this is what I came up with for my Hawai’i photo challenge.
