Cold Run

Today was a cold run! When I got up this morning, it was 5 degrees F so I waited. By about noon it was in the upper teens so I figured it was time. I’m in my second week of training for a marathon this Spring. I think I might be insane to do this, but I know I need to stick with my training plan. Today was the long run for the week so it had to be done.

Surprisingly, once I got going it wasn’t too bad. I could have probably worn one more layer, but overall once I started moving I stayed relatively comfortable. Well, as comfortable as one can be running in 20 degree weather with snow on the ground. I made it through the 4.5 miles of the run, and then thought about the 52 Frames challenge of the week – Self-Portrait. I took a few photos with my phone, but I wanted to get this one with a camera. So I wiped off my shoes as best I could, ran inside, and grabbed a camera. Despite the cold weather gear including the gator, I promise I was smiling!

I’m actually pretty happy with the result. The Z30 isn’t the most modern camera, but it still managed to focus on my face and blur the background a bit. I processed this in Luminar Neo with a Portrait-Vignette filter, and I like the small changes it made.

Hopefully I will be posting another post-run photo in the Spring having just finished 26.2 miles. I plan to be dressed differently, but still smiling.
