First Central Tower

This week’s 52Frames Photo Challenge was “Leading Lines.” Huntington Tower in Akron, OH, once known as First Central Trust Tower, has about 330 feet of leading lines drawing the eye to the sky. Today the sky was filled with falling snow, but at least it’s not below zero yet. (that is coming this week)

I might have taken a similar photo in the past, but I love how not only the tower serves as a line to the sky, but there’s also the design of the building that also draws they eye upwards. I took the shot from several angles. This one was framed so that the vertical lines start from outside the bottom edge of the photo. Some of the others included part of the ground floor which had a horizontal line that detracted a bit from the vertical draw.

For some reason I found this assignment especially challenging. Not sure if it was because of the cold, but I was having trouble composing something pleasing. I have a photo in my mind of what I would have love to have taken, but didn’t find that shot this week.

This photo was edited in Luminar Neo and I used the Frosty preset to give the sky some texture and pull the color in the building on a rather gray day.
