What I Eat (redo)

It seems that my creative, photographic journey comes in fits and spurts. That’s life though. At the end of the year, I’ve found a few spare brain cells with which to think and see with a more creative eye. Well, that may be an overstatement – I saw some bananas on the counter and just stared at them for a bit and thought, hmm, that would make an interesting photo. Perhaps this wasn’t exactly what was in my mind’s eye, but chasing perfection often leads to incompletion. This was a simple set up: kit lens, Neewer stick light, and a small, flat box to raise the camera height just a tad.

In 2024 and the beginning of 2025, I was doing the 52Frames Challenge where you take a photo and post it each and every week. Life had some different priorities and the camera waited patiently, but I really enjoyed the weekly challenge and may yet get back to it. This week’s challenge at the end of the year is to redo a shoot – this one was “What I Eat.”

I think there is a real benefit from shifting one’s focus from the daily grind to something creative, even if for a short time. Part of what I do in my job oftentimes is to help others slow down so that they can be more efficient or create value in their decisions. It’s ironic that sometimes I’m not as intentional with myself as I am with others. But, a work in progress is progress…

I do in fact eat bananas, but this is also a bit of a metaphor for the year. It wasn’t an insane year, but many things combined would make me say this year was a bit bananas. So, I submit this for my final picture of the year.
