Stacked Stones

Stacked stones can have many different meanings. In some cases they are used as navigational aids. Other times they mark the high point of a mountain or the location of a resource like water. I’ve read that they can bring a sense of peace or good luck. Whatever these stones mean, I thought they were amazingly perched atop a rock and looked good against the backdrop of the ocean.

This was taken at one of our favorite lookouts in O’ahu – Makapu’u Lookout. This faces north on the windward side of the island, and has some amazing views. It’s one of the places I think we’ll return to each time we go back to Hawaii.
