Fracture

About a week ago, we went on a photo walk in Columbus with photographer Jake Olson. This was our first group photo walk, and we got to poke around Franklinton to get some shots.

It was interesting that at the beginning of the walk, Jake told us to set our intention. Kind of like meditation or yoga.. Our intention was to find depth. This could mean many things, but I wasn’t quite sure how that would manifest.

It had rained recently so there were a lot of puddles around. This one caught the reflection of a nearby building and somehow also aligned with the lines in the road. As I framed the photo, I thought it looked like a fracture in reality. Almost like looking through the road into another dimension. Well, maybe not that sci-fi, but I thought it looked pretty neat.

It was fun playing around all the puddles with other photographers. We were all walking around them, looking at them from different angles and trying to frame up a shot. The only thing missing was for us to jump and splash in them!

I have a few more shots that I’ll post here soon. It was nice to be around other photographers who were friendly and non-judgmental. I really enjoyed the photo walk and look forward to doing one again.
